Description
Coleus forskohlii is a herb common in India. It is commonly found on arid lands of western India.
This herb is a member of Laminaceae plant family.
This is an annual or perennial, pungent aromatic erect herb. The stem is much branched from the woody base. semi spreading herb, it grows to a height of 0.5 meter. The leaves are ovate or obovate and glandular hairy.The flowers are purple or pale blue in color. The flowers appear in spike like terminal racemes. the flowering season is August to September.
Usage
In Ayurveda the stem and the roots are used as cure for gastric problems. They help in digestive system. Hypertension, glaucoma, inflammation and piles can be treated with this herb. In western India the stem and the roots are pickled with mustered powder .
