Spikenard is a perennial Herb native to India. It is cultivated on Himalayan slopes.
Spikenard-Indian is a member of Valerianceae plant family. This is an erect perennial herb. The leaves are sessile, oblong and sub ovate. The flowers are pink in dense cymes. The essential oil, useful in Ayurvedic medicine, is derived from thick grey rhizomes covered with reddish brown fibrous remains of the petioles of the leaves.
