Description

This a plant cultivated in many European countries. It is cultivated in Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, and Denmark. It is also cultivated in Kumaon region in India.

This is a plant of apiaceae plant family. This is a biennial herb. The herb attains a height of about 0.5 Metre. The roots are flashy and the stem is branched. The plant has white flowers in compound umbels. The fruits are brown in colour with sweet aromatic smell. The fruits when ripened split into narrow elongated carpel.

Usage

Caraway is widely used as spice for culinary purposes. Generally, bakery items are incorporated with caraway seeds. Caraway is useful in curing cough and headache.
